doodle in ink by derekjones doodle in ink by derekjones
nothing gives me more pleasure ( in art) than to manage a simple quick casual study in pen and ink... this one comes close to that

I love this so much.
How did you perform the shading? Pen wash?

Debbie -
a dip pen and a wash of ink + watercolour granulating medium (which I am fond of)
these pen and ink things rely on a casual approach - most of the time I am too uptight!
from sunny Scottish Borders!

Thank you!
This is really helpful.. except I don't know what the granulating medium is, but I'm sure it'd be available locally..
What does the medium add to the wash?

Debbie - it is a Winsor and Newton watercolour medium available in an art shop near you ( i guess!)
and it causes the pigment to clump and look like retriculation in photography- good for chinese black ink and Indian ink

it is on Redbubble as a print - but it is a small doodle so not sure how much they charge etc

as you are in UK could always do a print for you - depending what size etc
