Debbie -
a dip pen and a wash of ink + watercolour granulating medium (which I am fond of)
these pen and ink things rely on a casual approach - most of the time I am too uptight!

This is really helpful.. except I don't know what the granulating medium is, but I'm sure it'd be available locally..
What does the medium add to the wash?

Debbie - it is a Winsor and Newton watercolour medium available in an art shop near you ( i guess!)
and it causes the pigment to clump and look like retriculation in photography- good for chinese black ink and Indian ink
